Different manufacturers build washing machines in genuinely different ways, and those differences decide how a machine fails and how it should be diagnosed. A direct-drive front-loader and a belt-driven top-loader can present the identical symptom for entirely unrelated reasons.
These pages cover the eight brands we service most often in Colorado Springs homes, with the faults, configurations, and practical details specific to each.
Manufacturers make different engineering choices: direct drive versus belt drive, mechanical timers versus electronic controls, tall agitators versus impeller plates, and completely separate error code systems. Those choices determine which parts wear, in what order, and what the machine does when they do.
It also determines parts. A drain pump is not a universal component, and getting the right one depends on knowing the exact model rather than just the brand.
Front-load washers use a horizontal drum, a door boot seal, and a locking door, and they spin at high speed. Their characteristic issues are boot seal leaks, drain pump filter blockages, door lock faults, and vibration.
Top-load machines split into traditional agitator models and high-efficiency impeller models. Traditional units fail mechanically — lid switches, couplings, transmissions — while HE models add sensing and control faults to the list. We repair all of these configurations.
The brand alone gets us started, but the model number is what makes a first-visit repair likely.
Call anyway. Washing machines share a great deal of underlying engineering, and several brands are manufactured on shared platforms. A technician can often diagnose and repair machines outside the eight listed here.
You can also start from the symptom instead of the brand — our common washer problems pages cover the eight faults we see most often.
We are an independent residential appliance repair service. We are not an authorized dealer or agent for any manufacturer listed on this site, and brand names appear only to describe the machines we work on.
If your washer is still covered by a manufacturer warranty, contact the manufacturer before arranging independent repair.
